Summer "Dating Coaching" Starts Here

With the first day of summer, we quickly kick in to make the most of the season for outdoors, travel, seeing old friends, vacation, and even maximizing a staycation.  With so many opportunities and activities, I again encourage all you gay men seeking a long-term relationship to close the lid on the laptop!  Take it offline.  And seriously look for a great guy with which to share your summertime memories.

I coach clients that when online – if they must – to find more sophisticated, mature, and respectable face-to-face opportunities for meeting someone also seeking a long-term relationship.  As Rumi said, “What you seek is seeking you.”  This summer, you can’t blame weather, traffic, or holiday commitments for not meeting a great guy for you, so get out there and find him.

You’ve got to take steps to get out the door and possibly meet the one because he is out there!  Here are some dating coaching tips from the gay matchmaker on how to find that quality man.

Network – Be brave.  Visit your city’s Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, or LGBT Toastmasters Club. In corporate America, check out Out & Equal Workplace Advocates, or for smaller gatherings, connect with local LGBT entrepreneurs through StartOut.

Advocate – Don’t just read about the latest LGBTQ advocacy efforts from organizations such as Equality TexasFamily Equality Council, or the HRC (Human Rights Campaign).  Attend their mixers, volunteer for their gala or planning committee, and go to their watch parties.  Hint: Volunteering to work the registration table brings you face-to-face with every attendee.  And as political campaigns fire up, consider getting involved in grassroots efforts.

Connect – Subscribe to online e-newsletters from LGBTQ friendly professionals, realtors, entrepreneurs, and especially nonprofits. They direct you to gay-friendly socials, mixers, themed parties, and opportunities for networking.  Again, if you don’t have a “plus one” as your date, then sign up to volunteer.

Get Out – Hang out at the farmer’s market, book signings, lectures, museum special events, and even locally-owned neighborhood coffee shops. Go to the places where you would want to meet your future husband.  (True story:  The H4M website developer was hit on while working on my gay matchmaking biz site, simply because another coffee drinker looking over his shoulder noticed he was viewing an LGBT-friendly site. So if reading online at coffee shops, I highly recommend reading respected e-newsletters or sites like Advocate.comThe Huffington Post, Outsource, or HRC.)

Gentlemen, this list can go on and on.  It’s what we do.  H4M is immersed in the LGBT community, and we see opportunities for you every week.  We want all men seeking a long-term relationship to find the ONE, which is why I am a certified matchmaker. Staying at home viewing men on a laptop is not dating. We coordinate introductions, courting, and dating with compatible and quality men. But if you want to try it on your own this summer, I say, “Go for it!” And let me help with a couple of H4M Dating Coaching Sessions. We could have you singing “Summer Lovin’” after only one session.
